I decided to post 5 photos from India that were chosen not for aesthetic value, but because (to me at least) they make a statement and have a meaning.

  1. The first one took my breath away. first I thought that you mirrored one pic many times! What is the story behind this pic?
I am sure you put the last pic in just to stirr up one of my reactions ;-) hehe

  2. Thank you! I didn't plan on taking the picture that way, the sky is completely overexposed and fully white. But when I came back to Zurich and looked at it, I really liked it because it seems as if the people are all standing on on big platform between two worlds or something, it has a mystical feeling to it. What adds to that mystical, spiritual feeling is that their body language indicates that they're waiting for someone, for something to happen. If i'd have to give it a title, it would be 'judgement day'.

Then there's the symmetry in the way they are standing and because of the perspective some look much smaller than the others. Also their bodies are mirrored in the water makes everything even more symmetrical.

What I also like about the picture is that you don't completely understand it at first sight, you have to think about it a bit (like you desribed).

Oh and about the dog you're wrong because this time its not a beach dog but a puppy kept in captivity in a dogbreeding farm. It's looking outside at freedom but cannot escape its farm, its prison. But don't worry, I'll post something pretty soon that will definitely stir up a reaction with you ;)

  3. If *I*'d have to give it a title, it would be 'get your own original title plzkkthxbye'.

The Happy New Year picture is significant on so many (19) levels. The least important and most insignificant is that the picture was taken on the twenty-fifth of February, when in fact the poster reads Happy New Year, which we all know is actually on the 13th of January.
The more fascinating one is that Santa Clause is pictured on the poster, as well as the Pepsi machine lurking on the side of the frame, predators of globalization. The image evokes thoughts on the issues of cultural integrity and corporate corruption.

But we all know what BarGayotter had intended: To photograph the Indian waiter in a clear, sharp focus.
    How... *inspiring*.
